Chinese Vice-President Meets Indonesian Speakers

Visiting Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao and Indonesian parliamentary leaders Amien Rais and Akbar Tanjung stressed the need to further friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and enhance contacts between the two countries' parliaments.

During his meetings with Tanjung, chairman of the House of Representative, and Rais, speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, respectively on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, Hu expressed the hope that the two sides could continue maintaining close cooperation and mutual support in safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity and in keeping off the external intervention.

Both Rais and Tanjung praised the role China plays in dealing with regional and world affairs. Expressing their willingness to enhance all forms of mutually beneficial cooperation with China, they reaffirmed that Indonesia always sticks to a "One China" policy and supports China's reunification course.
