Chinese Doctors Save Life of French Tourist's Life in TibetDoctors in the Tibet Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province and the Beijing Office of the International SOS rescued a 22-year-old French university student who suffered from near-fatal altitude sickness during her recent trip to Tibet.Odile Chabrier, a member of an international tour group, suffered from intestinal disorder and altitude sickness and later went into shock on her way from Nepal to Lhasa, the capital city of the Tibet Autonomous Region, on July 17. Her brother, who was also on the trip, quickly informed the Beijing Office of the International SOS and asked for help. The Beijing Office immediately contacted the Lhasa First-Aid Center, which treated the girl. Her illness was under control within three days, doctors said, but she was weak and unable to eat. On July 20, the organization sent doctors to Lhasa on July 20 to escort Chabrier to Chengdu, capital of northwest China's Sichuan Province. Chabrier received follow-up treatment in the General Hospital of Chengdu Military Area Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Chabrier is now out of danger, her doctors said.
