Ex-US Soldier in Kosovo Admits Killing Two Ethnic Albanians

A former US peacekeeping soldier in Kosovo acknowledged Monday that he had shot dead two ethnic Albanian residents in Gnjilane in Kosovo.

Patris de Ssarete, an international judge from France confirmed the killing Monday by reading a written statement by a former U.S. peacekeeping soldier in Kosovo at the military court in Gnjilane, according to the official Tanjug news agency.

The soldier, whose name is Robert Blek, acknowledged in the statement that he had opened fire from an observation post and killed two ethnic Albanians on July 10 last year.

In addition, Judge Ssarete declared last Friday that three Serbs suspected of the killing, who had been arrested on July 10 last year and since then jailed at the U.S. military base in Kosovo, will be set free soon.
