1,400-Year Old Temple Remains Found in East ChinaThe remains of a famous temple dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) has been discovered in Zhenjiang City in Jiangsu Province. The temple, named Ganlu, was built in the Beigu Hill of the city, said an archaeologist with the Zhenjiang archaeological research institute. According to the expert, the palace remains, pottery articles and building materials unearthed from the site prove that the spot is the ruins of the Ganlu Temple. The well preserved remains of the temple will provide valuable clues for research on the dynasty's temples in southern part of China, he said. The temple's remains reveal architectural similarities to that of a Japanese temple built by a famous Chinese monk who went to Japan during the Tang Dynasty.
