Anti-Smuggling Drive Fruitful in Guangdong

In the first six months of the year, anti-smuggling police squads at Huangpu Customs in south China's Guangdong Province have investigated 103 cases, involving a total of 469 million yuan, and arrested 253 suspects.

According to police officials with the Smuggling Cases Investigation Bureau of Huangpu Customs, the number of smuggling cases they handled in the first half of the year is up 84 percent over the same period last year.

Cases include smuggling of automobiles, finished oil, chemical materials, computer parts and telecommunication equipment, officials said.
