Prehistoric Museum in Shanghai

A proposed cultural museum will show the life of Shanghainese in prehistoric times dating back some 6,000 years ago.

Songze Heritage Museum will display prehistoric Shanghai people and their tombs from the Songze cultural ruins excavated in the 1950s.

The ruins have more than 100 tombs containing 1,000 pieces of jadeware, stoneware, earthenware and bone tools.

Huang Xuanpei, an archaeologist with Shanghai Museum, said that the museum will cover a floor space of 0.67 hectare and have four exhibition halls.
