Horn Festival Makes Music in BeijingHorn players from around the world are gathered in Beijing for the 32nd International Horn Society Symposium. It's the first time the society has gathered in China and the first-ever horn festival held in Beijing. From July 22nd to 28th, Chinese audiences will have a chance to enjoy the rich music of these brass-wind instruments, played by some of the world's best players. In China, the horn is much less popular than other western musical instruments, such as the piano and the violin. From Saturday, several hundred professional horn players from around the world have gathered in Beijing to show off their skills. The activity is expected to give Chinese audiences a better understanding of this unique instrument. Hans Pizka (Master Horn Player) Said: "The major charm of horn play is that the original horn voice like we have in Vienna and Austria resembles average male voice." As part of the symposium, world famous horn player Hans Pizka and many other horn masters are giving lectures about the art of the horn. He says he is surprised to see so many horn fans, especially among Chinese children. This boy has been learning the instrument for over four years. He says he wants to play to improve his health and cultivate his character. Those who want to know more about the physical workings of the instrument may speak directly to some horn makers. They're exhibiting at the Century Theatre. But the price of taking home a horn is not cheap. This one costs over two thousand US dollars. Organizers think that the festival will help advance the popularity and knowledge of horn instruments in China.
