China Sets Up Dinosaur Museum

China has opened a dinosaur museum in Changzhou, east Jiangsu Province. The museum, with an investment of some 300 million yuan (about 36 million US dollars), exhibits rare mineral specimen, fossilized dinosaurs and primitive birds including a treasured fossil of Sinosauropteryx which was found in 1996 in the northeast province of Liaoning.

Thirty-six sets of dinosaur skeleton are shown in the museum, equipped with advanced audio and visual facilities. The Ministry of Land and Resources, China Geological Museum and the local government jointly sponsored the museum.

The newspaper also said that a dinosaur theme park near the museum will be open to the public in September.
