CSA Says Wu's Lawsuit UnreasonableThe Chinese Swimming Association (CSA) insisted the test and punishment for the banned Chinese swimming star Wu Yanyan were fair and said it was unreasonable for Wu to sue the association, press reports said on Friday."We treat everyone as equals. We don't impose worse punishments upon famous swimmers. This applies to Wu as well," a spokesman for the CSA was quoted as saying in Sports Weekly. Wu, world record holder in the women's 200 metre individual medley, was officially banned by the CSA late on Monday after having tested positive for an anabolic steroid at China's Olympic trials in May. She was also fined 8,000 yuan (US$964) by the CSA and her coach, Wu Jicai, was banned for one year and fined 4,000 yuan. She has denied using any illegal substances and said she planned go to court to sue the CSA. |
