First Tourism Promotion Train Winds up 21-day Trip

China's first tourism promotion train wound up a 21-day trip Sunday and returned to Nanning, capital of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The trip, sponsored by the regional government, was aimed at promoting Guangxi's tourist attractions in central and western areas.

The 12,500-kilometer train route started from Nanning and ran through Hunan, Hubei and Henan provinces in central China, and Shaanxi, Gansu provinces and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the west.

More than 40,000 people in these areas watched performances staged on the train by Guangxi singers and dancers.

Guangxi is famous for its beautiful landscape along the Lijiang River in Guilin City, scenic beach at Beihai City and over a dozen other state and provincial level scenic spots.

The region received 468,800 overseas tourists in the first five months this year, 77.92 percent more than the figure a year earlier.
