During the Tenth Five Plan period, Stresses are laid on developing the following two products: the Chinese traditional medicine and bioengineering medicine. By bringing our superiority in the research and production of Chinese traditional medicine into full play, we must on the one hand inherit something essential in the theory of Chinese traditional medicine to show the world that the Chinese medicine and pharmacology is a precious treasure of the mankind. And on the other hand we have to tap for scientific technology of the modern times to perfect the quality and technical criteria of the Chinese medicine, so as to find every possible way to get into the medical market in Europe and America.

At present, Great attention must be paid to the exploration in the international market for the health-care diet of Chinese traditional medicine, thus promoting its development in the world. Biotechnology is a new and advanced technology of a significant importance to the national economy in the 21st century. Engaged in the correlative researches now in China are over 200 units, 140 of which are working on the research and development for products of biotechnological medicines. Among them 20 types of products under production have already realized an output value of three billion yuan. From now on, medical enterprises must go in for the research of medicinal products of their own intellectual property rights.
