China, Nigeria Agree to Expand Trade and CooperationChinese and Nigerien trade officials agreed to expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries Monday at the first meeting of China-Niger Mixed Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation.Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Shi Guangsheng and Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration Sabo Nassirou co-presided over the meeting. Both developing nations, Shi said, China and Niger have maintained friendly relations and scored good results in bilateral trade and economic cooperation. He hoped the mixed committee to explore new means and areas for common development. According to Shi, the Chinese government encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Niger and hopes the Nigerien government to improve its policy and environment for foreign investors. Nassirou said the Nigerien government welcomes Chinese investment and is willing to enhance cooperation with China in land resources, environment protection and energy.
