361 Chinese Athletes Qualify for Olympic Games

361 Chinese athletes have qualified for this summer's Olympic Games in 25 major events and 175 minor events.

Yuan Weimin, the general director of the National Sports Office, made the announcement in a conference to prepare for the Sydney Olympic Games. He said, except for men's volleyball and beach volleyball, the Olympic committee has basically completed the qualifications, accumulated points and standards competitions. China's selection process of which athletes to send to Sydney has gone smoothly. The Chinese sports representatives are currently confirming the list of athletes who will participate in the Olympic Games.

There are 53 days left until the start of the Sydney Games. Yuan Weimin said, the preparation work for the Olympic Games has entered the last critical stage. Summer training is the last complete training period. Its effectiveness would affect the success or failure of the Chinese athletes.
