Indonesia Reiterates Abidance by "One China" PolicyIndonesian Vice-President Megawati Soekarnoputri on Monday reiterated that the Indonesian government will firmly stick to the "One China" policy.As a sincere friend, she said, Indonesia would uphold this policy and would not have any official contact with Taiwan. Megawati made this remarks during the meeting with visiting Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao in the vice-presidential office here. Hu pointed out that Taiwan issue is a domestic affairs of China. As usual China would spare no effort in promoting its peaceful reunification process with Taiwan, he said. "The peacefully solution to the Taiwan issue is in keeping with the common interests of the countries in the region. In this respect, we need support from friendly countries. We expressed thanks to the Indonesian government for upholding One China policy over a long period of time," Hu added. Megawati responded that Indonesia and China had enjoyed good relations in recent years. She said the Indonesian new government valued the mutual-supporting and mutual-beneficial cooperation with China. She sang high praise for the Chinese government for its painstaking efforts to promote a friendly bilateral cooperation.
