Chinese Prestigous University Sets up Woman's School
The Woman's School of Tongji University, one of China's most famous universities located in Shanghai, has been established recently.
The school will provide women students with diploma education as well as professional training ranging from science and technologies, business, foreign languages and literature.
Ms. Wu Qidi, president of Tongji University, is the dean of the school and Madam Chen Xiangmei, a famous social activist and Chinese American, has been invited to be the honorary dean.
Last year, about 51 percent of the first-year students in Shanghai-based colleges were female. However, the rate of girl students in scientific and engineering subjects still keeps low.
