China maintained a steady growth in electricity production in the first half of this year by generating 628.37 billion kwh, a 9.9-percent rise over the same period last year, according to the China State Power Corporation (CSPC).
During the first six months, China's hydropower, thermal power and nuclear power production reached 98.23 billion kwh, 521.42 billion kwh and 8.2 billion kwh, up 23 percent, 7.7 percent and 15 percent, respectively, over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the country's electricity consumption rose steadily. During the January-May period, the country consumed electricity totaling 516.43 billion kwh, up 10.3 percent over the same last year period, according to CSPC sources.
