Yongjia Solicit Investment for Preservation & Development of Ancient VillagesRecently, a number of ancient villages along the Nanxijiang River in Yongjia County of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province have been put on the list as an important project for attracting foreign investment, and great efforts will be made to preserve and develop them into a scenic attraction area for tourists.Included in the Nanxijiang scenic attraction area are 19 items for investment, of which the first batch listed for being invested are the ancient village of Furong with an investment of four million yuan, the Cangpo village with an amount of 4.5 million yuan, and the Furong old mansions, a sum of 20.5 million yuan. As reported, Yongjia County, with its own investment of 1.5 million yuan, has already completed the general planning for the project of Furong, Cangpo and Huadan villages, and held the first seminar on the development of Chinese ancient villages. For the preservation of these ancient villages, the county will continue to bid for more investments by holding meetings or via Internet. Up till now, the ancient village of Furong in Yongjia County has been submitted to apply for the unit under the fifth batch of cultural relics of National importance to be preserved by the state. Plan for Exploration of Ancient Jianhu in Shaoxing Approved An investment program of 0.2 billion yuan by Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province for a deep-going exploitation of ancient Jianhu has recently passed the joint hearing and assessment of experts. Jianhu is regarded as a shining pearl of Shaoxing. Many historical sites and places of interests in connection with celebrities are of high value for tourism. The scenic area planned for development covers 1.47 square kilometers, which includes the ancient Jianhu and the resorting area. In addition a cultural center of Shaoxing rice wine, a square for wine-appreciation, and a museum of bridges as well as the Pan Garden, and Dayu Garden etc. are included in the program to be constructed. The leading style of the architecture will be villages and private gardens typical in the south of the Yangtze River. Simple and unsophisticated, they will bring out the graceful elegance of Shaoxing as a country of waters, bridges and wines.
