China
Congress on Metropolitan Ethnic Cultures Opens in Beijing
The most important international congress ever held in China in the respect of anthropological and ethnological sciences opened in Beijing Monday morning.
With a theme of "metropolitan ethnic cultures: maintenance and interaction", the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) 2000 Inter-Congress has attracted more than 360 delegates from 46 countries.
Hosted by the China Urban Anthropology Association(CUAA), the five-day congress will cover a number of academic areas including anthropological and ethnological sciences, biology and genetics.
