China to Clean Sino-DPRK Border River

Dandong City, the largest bordercity on the Yalu River, in northeast China's Liaoning Province, recently issued regulations requiring paper-making companies along the river to handle waste water at the set standard before it flows into the river, which forms the border between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Besides, local residents and tourists are warned against littering and throwing garbage into the river.

Meanwhile, local sanitary departments will allocate a certain amount of funds every year to clean the river.

Statistics show that Dandong discharges over 80 million tons of sewage and garbage into the river every year.
