China Calls For Joint Efforts to Control Precursor Chemicals

A senior Chinese police officer Friday called for concerted efforts of the international community to effectively control chemicals used to make drugs.

An Guojun, an officer from the narcotics control bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, made the remark at the ICPO-Interpol International Heroin Conference, which closed here today.

He said that "it's hard for any individual country to bring such crime under control as it usually involves a number of countries and regions."

The officer proposed that members of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) should cooperate more closely in the fight against narcotics and establish a better a control system on precursor chemicals as soon as possible.
