Pension and Subsidy Payments UrgedRetirees and laid-off workers could get all their pension benefits and subsidies in arrears before the end of August, according to a government regulation issued recently.The Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the regulation, which also stipulated that all delayed social benefits for the laid-off workers must be paid. It urged all departments and localities to make sure that the pensions and subsidies will be fully paid to the retirees and laid-off workers. The regulation requires all localities to help strengthen the collection of social insurance, especially in foreign-funded enterprises, private enterprises and institutions. It also stressed that eastern regions and central cities must deliver pension payments before the end of September through social security bodies via post offices or banks, instead of through their former work units. The deadline for other regions to complete the transition is the end of this year, according to the ministries. |
