International Summer Camp Opens in South China

An international summer camp for young people opened Thursday in Haikou, capital city of south China's island province of Hainan.

A total of 109 youngsters from 12 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia, are attending the camp.

The week-long event, with the theme of science and culture, aims to promote friendship and cooperation between young people from different parts of the world.

The young campers will visit a rain forest, ocean park, active volcanic area and high-tech agricultural park.

They will also discuss questions concerning the Internet.
