Yangtze Water Level at Wuhan Keeps RisingThe water level in the Yangtze River at this capital of central China's Hubei Province, reached 25.3 m, 0.3 m above the danger line, as the second flood peak on China's longest river approaches.Information from the Yangtze River Flood Control Headquarters said the daily average water level rise at Wuhan from July 17 to 19 remained at 0.23 m. The second flood crest passed Jianli City at the dawn today, with a water level of 35.65 m, 0.65 m higher than the danger line. The local hydrometeorological bureau reported that the water levels on the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze are now falling. At Yichang, a city on the upper reaches, the water flow fell from 53,000 cu m to 43,000 cu m per second at 8:00 this morning. In Shashi City, site of an important hydrological station on the middle reaches, the water level in the mainstream of the river was recorded at 42.6 m 8:00 this morning, from 43.12 m the day before yesterday. The water level on the lower reaches is expected to rise soon, and that at Wuhan is predicted to reach 25.55 m on July 23, when the crest passes.
