Chinese, Maltese FMs Vow to Bring Relations to New High

Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and Maltese Foreign Minister Joseph Borg pledged Thursday that the two countries will work together to push forward their bilateral relations to a new level.

They spoke highly of the development of bilateral ties since the two countries forged diplomatic relations in 1972.

Tang said China pays great attention to its relations with Malta, and is ready to make joint efforts with the Maltese side to promote the cooperative and mutually-beneficial ties.

Borg, who arrived here Thursday for an official visit, said Malta hopes to strengthen its relations with China.

He pledged that Malta will continue to uphold the One-China policy and actively supports China's membership in the World Trade Organization.
