HK Men's Basketball Team Permitted to Attend CBA

The Hong Kong Basketball Association has received permission from the National Sport Association to send a team to compete in the China Basketball Association (CBA). The Hong Kong men's basketball team will join the CBA November 19, 2000 when the season starts.

The Hong Kong team will be lowered to Class B if it places last or second two last at the end of the season, like any other team in the CBA. The Hong Kong team is allowed to have three foreign players, two of which may enter the game at the same time. The Hong Kong team, like any other team in the CBA, is allowed to have only one mainland player transferred to the team on a provisional basis. The director of the Hong Kong team has already filed a report to the Special Administrative Region government and received its strong support.
