Cambodia's King to Take Legal Action Against Hong Kong Newspaper

Cambodia's King Norodom Sihanouk says he will take legal action against the Hong Kong newspaper, South China Morning Post, over an article it printed on the country's monarchy.

In a statement, the king describes the article as a slander against his honour and that of his family.

He objected to a section of the article, dealing with the issue of succession in the Cambodian royal family and whether Paris-based Prince Norodom Sihamoni was his son.

The author of the article, Bangkok-based British journalist, William Barnes, says the offending reference was an error caused during editing.

Cambodia earlier this week threatened to ban Mr Barnes from entering the country after the article was reprinted in a Cambodian newspaper.
