CFA Provides Football "ID Card"

In a move to tighten the regulations over the status of soccer players, the China Football Association (CFA) recently issued passport-style registration documents to record professional and amateur football players' registration, substitution and participation in matches.

Yang Yimin, director of CFA Technical Department, said that for a long time, playing under someone else's name and substituting wantonly in youth matches has been a major problem despite a repeated ban. Professional teams also have various kinds of disputes arising from which team a player should belong to.

To solve this problem, CFA issued standard regulations that outline when players can register, substitute, and participate in matches.
