Fixed Telephone Customers Increased 100,000 Every Day

In the first half of this year, China's telecom industry earnings and business gross continued to increase and the number of customers who have fixed telephones, as opposed to cell phones, increased by 19 million according to a press conference by the China Telecom Group.

The Chinese telecom industry's earnings totaled 82.6 billion yuan between January to June of this year, up 18.8%, and businesses grossed 83.2 billion yuan, up 17.7%.

During this period, the number of Chinese customers with fixed telephones increased 100,000 a day. To date, there are more than 127 million customers, 82% of which have phones at home. There are 84.3 million urban customers and 43.0 rural customers. The scale of China's fixed telecommunications network is now the second largest in the world.

Data traffic has become China's new area of growth in the first half. It has developed especially fast. In the previous six months, the number of new Internet users doubled the number of users at the end of last year. Other type of data traffic customers have exceeded 860,000 users.

China's communications network is moving towards a digitized, integrated, personalized direction.
