Russian President Concludes China Tour

Russian President Vladimir Putin wrapped up his China tour and left Beijing for Pyongyang by special plane Wednesday.

Putin arrived here midnight Monday for a state visit, the first since he assumed presidency, at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

During his stay here, the two heads of state held talks on Sino- Russian relations and international issues of common concern. Jiang and Putin also signed a joint statement on the anti- ballistic missile issue and the Beijing Declaration.

This is their second meeting in recent two weeks. The two presidents met at Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, early this month.

Other senior Chinese leaders including Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Peng, Premier Zhu Rongji, and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Li Ruihuan met with Putin respectively.
