Ten gas pipelines are reported having been built in Western China for transporting industrial and chemical materials and supplying large and medium-sized cities with clean energy resources.

According to Xinhua News release, 22.4 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserve is estimated in West China, or 59% of the whole land gas reserve in China. Up to the end of last year, 1.5 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves have been verified and 12 billion cubic meters extracted, with an annual production capacity exceeding 18 billion cubic meters.

During the past five years, 10 pipes have been erected, trunk lines built over a distance of 3630 km, with a transporting capacity of 7.5 billion cubic meters.
