HK Company Wins Authority of Agency of Domain " .cc" in China
A Hong Kong company was the only firm that recently won the agency of the domain name, " .cc", in China. It will also provide services of domain information searching, domain name protection, guarantee for secured trade and domain names in various languages.
The company, named Secure Site Technology Limited, established a website, aweb.cc, which is specially in charge of registration and promotion of domain names in China's hinterland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The website mainly uses English, a Chinese version will be published in August.
Sources say, there have been about 15 million domain names registered around the world. By the end of 1999, over 9 million domain names ended in ".com", had been registered. Many words and names have been selected. The introduction of " .cc" will bring about new opportunities to the internet domain name market.
Hong Kong companies developed Chinese domain name register service early this year. Some simple domain names easy to be memorized were once auctioned .
