HK Student, Teacher Tour Group in Beijing

More than 120 middle school students and teachers from Hong Kong Tuesday visited the Great Wall at Jurongguan and the nearby 13 imperial tombs of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

The group is part of the New Millennium Tour program launched and financed by the Hong Kong Li Ka-shing Fund.

For the special tour, which began in mid-July, 1,000 outstanding middle school students from Hong Kong, led by 50 teachers, will visit the Chinese mainland, Singapore, Germany, the United States, Japan, Canada, Britain and Australia in 25 separate groups.

During their stay in Beijing, the group visited key scenic sites in the Chinese capital, and the prosperous Hancunhe Village in the suburbs of Beijing as well as Beijing and Qinghua universities.

They will leave for Hong Kong tomorrow after they visit the Temple of Heaven and the Oriental Plaza in downtown Beijing.

Via the same tour plan, 400 other Hong Kong students and teachers are visiting seven other Chinese mainland cities of Xi'an, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Qingdao and Kunming in five different groups.
