China has discovered some ten gas- bearing structures in the Southwest China Petroleum Gas Field since the beginning of this year, with the drilling success rate hitting 75.86 percent, according to Tuesday's China Petrochemical News.
The discovery signals a huge potential for gas development in southwest China, the paper said, adding that gas reserves in the ten structures are expected to hit over 50 billion cu m.
Two gas wells have already been sunk in Luojiazhai, the most important one of the ten gas-bearing structures, and rich gas flows have been found which were tested at 433,000 cu m and 632, 000 cu m daily, respectively.
Experts expect the gas reserves contained in the two wells to total around 15 billion cu m, the paper said.
