Seven Chinese Crew Missing after Collision with S.Korean Boat

Seven Chinese crew were missing Tuesday, a day after their fishing boat capsized in a collision with a South Korean fishing vessel in the East China Sea, the coastguard said.

China's Zhelingyu 23374 and South Korea's No. 65 Dong Myoung collided at 11:30 a.m. (0230 GMT) on Monday 430 kilometers (267 miles) northwest of the Japanese island of Amami-Oshima island, a Japan Coast Guard spokesman said.

One Chinese crew member was rescued by the South Korean boat, but the remaining seven were still missing, the spokesman said. No South Korean crew members were missing or injured.

The Japanese coast guard dispatched three patrol boats and one airplane to the site with South Korea sending two patrol ships, he said. An investigation was underway into the cause.
