Exports Surge 38 Percent in First Half

China's foreign trade kept an upbeat growth momentum in the first half of this year, with exports surging by 38.3 percent to US$114.5 billion, according to Ye Zhen, spokesman of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Imports for the January-June period stood at US$102.1 billion, up 36.2 per cent year-on-year.

Total trade surplus amounted to US$12.4 billion, 4.4 billion more than the same period of last year.

The NBS spokesman attributed the hefty growth to improved international economy and the Chinese government's supportive policies such as increase in tax rebates to promote export.
