Beijing Sets New Record in Exports

Beijing-based enterprises realized US$ 5.163 billion -worth of imports and exports in the first half of this year, with US$ 2.016 billion -worth of exports. The monthly growth rate exceeded 40 percent, the fastest- ever increase, according to related statistics released Monday.

Zhou He, deputy director of the Beijing Foreign Economic and Trade Commission, said exports from foreign-funded enterprises accounted for 60 percent of the city's total. Also, among all the industries, the rises in processing and machinery and electronics were respectively 84.3 percent and 93.5 percent.

More enterprises are dealing in imports and exports, with 102 more in the first six months of this year.

Zhou said new and high-technology industries will be the focus for the next six months in export increases. The city will also raise the proportion of agricultural products in the export structure.

Related government departments and financial institutions are also encouraged to provide a better environment for the export companies.
