Qinghua PhD Candidates Head West for Summer

China's large-scale western development campaign has attracted much domestic and international attention. In Tibet, it was the turn of PhD students from Qinghua University to host a seminar on science and development.

In the People's Hall in Lhasa, the seminar produced a heated debate on scientific research and economic development in western China. The students say they plan to study specific cases and provide updated information that meets the needs of the west.

Zhao Zhifeng, PhD student of Qinghua University said:" We've done many scientific exchanges here. We hope seminars like this one can turn our research into practical results that will help the development of the Tibet Autonomous Region."

The presence of the students provides a rare chance for Tibetans to learn skills in a wide variety of fields: Internet technology, e-commerce, regional economics, ecology and sustainable development.

The students have a bright vision of Tibet's future once the knowledge they've passed on can be turned into something tangible.
