Foreign Firms Invest in Internet Concept Enterprises in Beijing

According to the Beijing Foreign Trade Committee, during the first half of this year, Beijing approved a total of 534 foreign-funded enterprises, among which, Internet concept enterprises accounted for over one half, at 262.

One authoritative source says that of the foreign-funded Internet concept enterprises, 40 are with total investment value exceeding ten million dollars and nine firms are involved in computer network services.

Despite of continuous foreign investments in Internet concept firms, only 0.92 billion dollars of the foreign capital was actually used, down 32.9% compared to the same period last year.

Beijing's contracted foreign capital investments increased by 1.3 times during the first half. This growth is mainly derives from Asian countries as well as the US. The contracted Hong Kong investments increased by over four-fold, Japan's grew by more than 100%, and the US' increased two-fold.

By the end of June, Beijing had approved up to 15,272 foreign-funded enterprises with contracted foreign investments worth US$30 billion.
