Guilin Develops Underground Rivers

Guilin, the famous tourism scenic spot, made the best use of its tourism resource, by developing underground river spots, and formed structures that allow tourists to climb mountains, explore underground caves, or go swimming.

In the early nineties, Guilin developed three underground river tourist spots---Guan Cliff, Fengyu Cliff and Fane, which attract millions of tourists every year.

The underground river in Guan Cliff outside of Guilin is more than ten kilometers long. The Fengyu Cliff, dubbed "Asia's first hole", has a deep hole and beautiful waters. The underground river in Fane is more than 100 kilometers away from Guilin. There are more than ten sand beaches along this ten-kilometer underground river. Its grains of sand are so fine and round that they are considered natural wonders. Fane also has waterfalls and springs. Inside, an assortment of strange rocks, bamboo-shaped stones and waterfalls of stone can be found all around.

Guilin is famous for its landscape. Be it the Lijiang River, the Zijiang River or the great Wupai River, the exquisite combination of the surrounding hills with the waterways as well as the newly developed underground rivers attract millions of domestic and foreign tourists to Guilin every year.
