China's Steel Plates for Boilers, Pressure Vessels Up to Standard
A recent random examination showed that 100 percent of China-made steel sheets for the production of boilers and pressure vessels are up to the national standard.
The examination, conducted by the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, involved 34 varieties of steel plates produced by 13 enterprises in 13 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
Steel sheets, used specially for producing boilers and pressure vessels, are required to meet the national standard.
At present, every year China produces about 150,000 tons of steel plates for boilers, valued at 500 million yuan (about 60 million U.S. dollars), and 250,000 tons of steel plates for pressure vessels, worth 800 million yuan.
The State Council has issued an urgent circular to stress safety in production and the prevention of accidents.
Meanwhile, the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has taken measures to improve the quality of boilers and pressure vessels and ensure proper usage of the products.
