Quality of Lighting Instruments Improved

The quality of China-made lighting instruments has been improved, according to a recent sample survey by the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.

The qualification rate was 65.3 percent, higher than the previous examination by the bureau. However, the quality of lamps is still at a low level, said an official from the bureau.

The spot-check on 49 production and sales enterprises of lighting instruments across China showed that 78.3 percent of the examined producers were qualified, but only 53.9 percent of the dealers met the standard.

The lack of proper management in the Chinese market for lighting instruments was cited as the major reason affecting the quality of lamps.

Local quality and technical supervision departments have been urged to strengthen reexamination of the unqualified enterprises and improve the quality of the products.
