Changchun Hosts International Sculpture Exhibition

The 2000 International Sculpture Exhibition opened on July 16 in Shengli Park in this capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.

A total of 62 sculptures selected from 780 entries sent for the exhibition are expected to be on show at the exhibition. Apart from five completed works, some 57 sculptures from the US, Uruguay, Zimbabwe and China will be created in the next 56 days of the exhibition in the park.

The exhibition, with the theme "Friendship, Peace and Spring", is the fourth one held in Changchun since 1997.

The city also plans to show sculpture works created in the former sessions in an international sculpture park, which is still under construction. The park is expected to be a permanent location for the exhibits.
