New Foreign Companies Registered in Hong Kong Increase 51%

413 new foreign companies registered in Hong Kong during the first half of 2000, up 51.28% from the first half of last year, according to the newest statistics from the registration office in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

The statistics show that up to the end of this June, a total of 5,884 foreign companies set up businesses in Hong Kong, up 4.53% since December 1999. The number of new local companies setting up offices in Hong Kong also increased, reaching 22,963 companies, up 36.38% from the same period last year.

There are currently a total of 505,754 local companies in Hong Kong.
