Shanghai to Build GPS NetworkShanghai, China's largest industrial city, will build a network for the comprehensive application of global positioning system (GPS) technology.The 10 million yuan (125 million U.S. dollars) project will include 14 GPS benchmark stations, a GPS weather service network and an earth surface surveying network, said a local official. "It will help us improve weather forecast and get more information about changes in the environment," he said. It will also benefit Shanghai's urban construction and traffic control, he added.
