Taiwan Press Delegation Winds Up Tour in Beijing

The 19-member Taiwanese delegation of press leaders wind up their five-day visit to Beijing and left for Taiwan Friday.

Chinese Vice Premier Qian Qichen, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with the delegation.

He said he appreciates the positive role played by friends from the Taiwanese media sector in promoting cross-Straits understanding and relationship.

Officials from the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Association for Relations Across Taiwan Straits and the All- China Journalists Association also met with the delegation.

Meanwhile, the delegation members visited the Xinhua News Agency, the People's Daily, the China National Radio and the China Central Television.

In addition, they held talks on the cross-Straits relations with the scholars from the Institute of Taiwan Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
