Senior CPC Official Meets Niger Delegation

The development of China-Niger relations proves that the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the two countries conforms to the fundamental interests of the two peoples, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Thursday.

Wei Jianxing, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark in a meeting with Sekou Hamidou, president of Niger's National Movement for the Society of Development (MNSD-NASSARA), and his delegation.

Wei, also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said bilateral cooperation in various fields has been progressing since the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1996 and friendship between the two peoples has deepened, although there was a time of twists and turns in bilateral relations after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974.

He expressed his belief that through joint efforts, China-Niger friendship and cooperation will develop further in the years ahead. Speaking highly of friendly relations between the CPC and the MNSD-NASSARA, he said increased exchanges and study of each other' s ruling experience will be conducive to their respective national development, and the further development of bilateral relations.

Sekou said Niger and many other African countries have had close relations with China, because African countries and China have similar histories and common tasks, and China stands by the African people in the international arena.

He said China is a multi-nationality and multi-culture country, and China's national unity left a deep impression on his delegation.

He expressed the conviction that the Chinese people will score even more achievements, and achieve the complete reunification of the motherland.

The delegation is visiting China at the CPC's invitation.
