China Affected by Global Warming: ScientistThe temperatures of the world will continue to rise in the next 30 years and China will be no exception, according to a leading Chinese scientist here.Over the past month, much of the world has been hit by waves of heat. The Chinese capital of Beijing has already witnessed temperatures above the major psychological mark of 40 Celsius degrees C. Many people began to wonder if the temperature will continue to go up in the years ahead. Atmospheric physicist Ye Duzheng said that the world temperature has been on the rise over the past century and will continue to climb. Observation showed that the average temperature of the globe is 0.5 degrees higher than that of the beginning of the 20th century. Many scientists agreed that the world's temperature is expected to continue to go up as a result of an increased amount of greenhouse effect gases, Ye said. It is predicted that around the year of 2030, the average winter temperature in north China is expected to rise one to 1.5 Celsius degrees, while the summer temperature to rise 0.5 to 0.8 degrees. The rise of temperatures, especially in winter, will bring a host of changes to the nature and the human society. Chinese scientists are studying how to cope with the changes and how to maintain sustained social and economic developments of the country, Ye said. |
