Vice-Premier Meets Overseas Outstanding Youth Delegation
The delegation, headed by Henry Fok Ying-tung, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region University Grants Committee chairman Dr. Alice Lam, is the second of the kind. "The visit by the first delegation in 1999 achieved good results, and played a positive role in helping overseas and Hong Kong students get to know about the motherland's history, culture, and today's China," Li said. The visit of the second delegation has proven the saying " seeing is believing," he said, hoping that the delegation would leave with a stronger belief in the revival of the Chinese nation. He briefed the delegation on domestic situation, including economic restructuring, education, science and technology. The delegation consists of 206 students from universities of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and across the world.
