Top Airlines and Airports Selected

Four major Chinese airlines and four airports were voted as having outstanding service in a recent poll of more than 50,000 passengers, according to report of China Daily on July 13.

Representatives of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced yesterday that Air China, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines were voted as excellent airlines in their respective categories - more than 6 million passengers per year, 3-6 million passengers per year, 1-3 million passengers per year and under 1 million passengers per year.

In another competition, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport was voted top of its division of more than 8 million passengers per year. Shenzhen Airport won the 3.5-8 million passengers division. Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport won the 2-3.5 million division and Harbin Taiping Airport led the under 2 million passengers division.

The winning airlines and airports were selected directly by air passengers. Passengers turned in 45,515 evaluation surveys given to them during their flights. Another 11,869 surveys were mailed to CAAC by passengers after their flights.

CAAC documents showed that air service in coastal regions were apparently better than that of inland provinces.

Airlines which adopted advanced administration systems or became stock companies consistently rated above other domestic aviation companies, CAAC documents showed.

Most passenger dissatisfaction indicated by the poll concentrated on meals and entertainment service in the air. Some passengers complained about flight delays.
