Intellectual Property Rights Protection Develops Rapidly in China

The intellectual property protection industry has been developing rapidly in China, Ren Jianxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC said.

When Chinese delegates first began attending international conferences as observers in the early seventies, many countries had already had a wealth of experience from a intellectual property protection system with a hundred year old history. In China, only a few people understood the concept of intellectual property.

Backed by the Communist Party of China and the government, many far-sighted experts in law and foreign languages devoted themselves to this field, especially in the eighties and nineties.

From then on, the intellectual property rights system has developed rapidly in China. In terms of patent applications alone, there have been more than 100 million applications in 15 years. This proves that protection of intellectual property can work in China. It also plays a huge role in promoting the development of technology and production in China.

The Chinese Intellectual Property Association was founded in 1984. The organization, has done a lot to organize exchanges both at home and abroad and propagate intellectual property knowledge.
